"Bop"

Jack can spell 'stop', well backwards anyway. Even though he spells "p- o- t- s" everytime we see a stop sign, he still says, "Bop!!!" for stop. This is a look and hand gesture we see when he means business! This was no more pictures! "Mom! Bop!!!"

Davis County Fair

Riding a "lidlo" horse
We went to the Weber County Fair in Ogden last Friday and the Davis County Fair in Farmington today. Jack came home from Grandma's wearing these new ladybug boots and wanted to wear them to both fairs. He thinks they are so cool! Well it is convenient when he wants to jump in puddles.

Like father like son

The rides and the ride operators at this fair are the same ones we saw last week. One of them shouted to Jack, "I remember you! I remember those boots!" It was sunny and over 90 degrees and Jack is wearing rain boots! He likes the attention, hee hee!

Sporting sunglasses

Nothing gets better attention than wearing sunglasses! Jack struts around everytime he puts them on. He feels so mature!

We spent five dollars at a game booth to buy a 50 cent goldfish in a ziplock bag. We already have a Betta fish named Bobo, which Brad took Jack to buy on a father-son date last year. And we already have an African dwarf frog, named "Do" (two) which we bought at a Farmington Pioneer Days Parade booth. I asked Jack what we should name his new goldfish. "Dee!" (three) I said, "Why don't we name it Goldy or Orange?" "No. Bobo, yun. A hop, do. Dis yun a Dee!" (Bobo is one, the frog is two, this one is three!)

Little wolf

You can't see it, but there is a 'little wolf' with us in this alligator boat at the zoo. Jack says he is a little 'yeyoe' (yellow) wolf. He comes with us occasionally on our trips to Lagoon or the store, or anywhere really; the little wolf just shows up. We hold him in our hands and pet him or have him run with us. We call to him, "run little wolf, run!" when we need to hurry up.
This little wolf is actually the second little wolf. The first little wolf showed up at Grandma's house one day to play. Then a few days later, as I was flushing the toilet, Jack told me frantically, that the little wolf was going down the toilet. Unwillingly to pretend to save him, I asked Jack if the wolf could swim up. No! Jack hung his head and sighed and acted so sad that the little wolf was gone. We went to go tell Dad that the little wolf got flushed down the toilet and was gone. We told Dad. Dad was expressing sympathy and we were lamenting with Jack, when all of a sudden Jack put up one finger and said excitedly, " a no! new lidlo wolf!" which meant: "I know! let's get a new little wolf!" He was so proud of his idea to keep the little wolf going.
So the little wolf continues to follow us around from time to time.

Conversation in car with Jack in the back seat

Jack: Mom?
Mom: Yes, Honey.
Jack: A Dad a home?
Mom: You're asking, "Is Dad at home?"
Jack: Uh-huh.
Mom: No, Honey, Dad is on a plane.
Jack (dejected) : Oh dang!

I never knew I said 'oh dang' until three year old Jack started saying it. I never knew how often I said 'woo hoo' with a fist in the air until a two year old Jack started congratulating everything that way. When I am really upset I say 'shoot!' I hope he doesn't pick that up! Or at least that he has perfect pronunciation when he says it!

Jack loves to count

Before we spent April, May and June in California this year, Jack relied on me to say "one" "four" and "seven" for him when he counted. Our many fun playdates with our very verbal little friends helped. Jack now loves to say all the numbers and he doesn't rely on his fingers to count anymore. I studied how he says the numbers so we can remember and copy it forever. Brad and I love to say it Jack's way.

"Yun, do, de, doors, bahv, dits, deaden, eat, non, den!"

Millcreek again

We had so much fun at our picnic that Brad, Jack and I went back up Millcreek Canyon last night for hot dogs and s'mores. (I got permission to post the group photo from our fun night)

California

When I was trying to find a few pictures to show what we love about California, I realized I cannot sum up the great things about California in just a few pictures!

There are just too many things we love about California!

We love the parks,
the weather,
the pools,
the playlands,
the malls,
Disneyland (off-hours in the off-season) and
the beach (before 11am).

If I had to sum up the best things about California in just a few words, it would be:

THE BEST FRIENDS EVER!!!

Utah (and Idaho)

June 2008

Brad rode his motorcycle up to this waterfall!

June 2008
This buck watched Brad for five minutes, then went on his way.

July 2008
This is why we love to live in Utah! Sorry, it is just too beautiful and remote nearby!

Pioneer Days Rodeo

We took Jack to the rodeo. He was so excited to see the bulls. He must have said, "Bull?" "Bull!" "Bull" at least 100 times. It was priceless to see his reaction to the opening light show in the dark with loud music. He kept putting his hat on sideways, looking goofy but looking excited and wired up!
Jack was getting restless and we offered him one of the light up toys that the vendors walk around and sell. Jack noticed that the vendor held the toy in his apron around his waist, so Jack had to stick the toy in his pants like the vendor had it. Jack couldn't wait to strut around the arena with his new toy. He did get stares and he loved every minute of it.

Picnic Millcreek Canyon

The Child's took us up Millcreek Canyon for a campfire picnic. It was Jack's first open fire picnic. He loved throwing things into the fire. I was nervous he would fall in it and I warned him not to jump on the curb surrounding the fire. He then warned me everytime I had a foot resting on the curb that I might fall into the fire! Hee Hee! What a fun night!
