Bennett's baby blessing

Sunday we celebrated the reason for our California trip: Bennett Schrek's baby blessing. We had to start the drive home right afterwards, but we did get some pictures. It was nice to catch up with Mason, Whitney, Riley and Parker Fink! We were right in the chapel where we met and used to attend church together. The Newport beach Temple was built next door to our chapel while we lived there in 2005.

Jack and Riley played for a bit and became fast friends.
It was great to see Isaiah again! We met him when Jack was a baby. Isaiah has always been so nice to Jack. And Jack loves Isaiah! Together they stuck Jack's spiderman and tree frog on the tree. We are so happy Isaiah is now a big brother!

The blessing was beautiful and we heard wonderful testimonies from Crystal and Michael.

The boys are back in town

We had a great trip! It was so nice to see everyone! Our twelve hour drive home was miraculously as pleasant as the drive to California. We are amazed at how Jack did!

The theme of the trip was to enjoy every last minute of Jack's last few preschool days. Feeling full of melancholy over Jack's forever-gone baby, toddler and preschool years, we focused on having fun in the little moments. Our Disneyland passes were blocked out for the week, but we had fun in the quiet and silly moments of our trip. We focused on the simple joys of Jack's childhood. Kindergarten, here we come!
